DAY 1: GORILLA TREKKING AND TRANSFER TO LAKE KIVU.

Early morning breakfast and embark on a journey to volcanoes national park for gorilla trekking. Arrival at the park reception for registration, grouping and briefing about the dos and don’ts of the park.

After all the park formalities, transfer to the starting point and then embark on the lifetime experience of trekking the mountain gorillas. Once the gorillas are spotted, your allowed to spend one hour looking at them while playing, feeding and taking pictures with short videos.

After the experience, transfer to Lake Kivu. Overnight at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel.

DAY 2: GISENYI AND LAKE KIVU.

Part of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, Lake Kivu in the west of Rwanda is surrounded by magnificent mountains and has deep emerald green waters covering a surface area of 2,700 km2. It is Rwanda’s largest lake and the sixth largest in Africa.

Lake Kivu gives visitors a chance to take part in different activities like swimming, spot fishing, beach soccer, kayaking among others.

Transfer back to Kigali and drop off at your hotel or airport according to your schedule.

When Packing:

Don’t forget a windbreaker or a light raincoat. When tracking gorillas you will be in a rain forest, so it will more likely than no rain. You will need good walking shoes, socks that’s for hiking, Gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking. Garden gloves are also recommended. A light sweater for the evening is recommended and generally long sleeves and trousers worn at this time will help keep the mosquitoes away. If you enjoy swimming, bring your swimming costume, the main hotels in Kigali all have swimming pools. If your itinerary includes Lake Kivu at either Karongi or Rubavu, you will have the opportunity to swim in the lake but kindly follow the advice of the guide. A torch should be recommended for every adventure destination and Rwanda is no exception.
