Day 1: ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT & TRANSFER TO THE HOTEL

On arrival at Kigali International Airport and after the airport formalities, our representative outside the customs and Immigration hall will be waiting to warmly welcome you. Transfer to your hotel of residence. Overnight stay at Heavens Boutique Hotel.

Day 2: KIGALI CITY EXPLORATION & ECO-TOURISM PARK NYANDUNGU.

Start historical-minded exploration of Kigali city with visits to landmarks from colonial, post-independence, genocide and post-genocide times i.e. Kigali Genocide memorial site where over 250,000 genocide victims were put to rest in mass graves, Campaign against Genocide museum, Belgian camp where they killed the 10 Belgian UN soldiers who were protecting the moderate prime minister before the start of genocide.

Lunch and transfer to Eco-tourism park nyandungu which provides visitors with a chance to visit a medicinal garden which showcases indigenous and native plants that have been found to possess medicinal value, the Papal Garden, whose name is derived from the historic visit by Pope John Paul II to Rwanda in 1990, various water ponds located in the park named after different lakes in Rwanda including Muhazi, Kivu, Ruhondo and Ihema which provide a comfortable place for visitors to take a health break amidst the serene natural environment. All this provides a birding experience to visitors. Dinner and overnight at Heaven boutique Hotel.

Day 3: TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK ENROUTE VISIT MUSEUMS

Pickup in Kigali then transfer to the Nyungwe National Park en-route visit the ethnographical museum and the King’s palace which gives insights to the pre, past and colonial time and shows how Rwandese used to live, their culture among others. Lunch in Butare later proceed to Nyungwe. Dinner & Overnight at Nyungwe House

Day 4: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING AND CANOPY WALK WAY

Early morning breakfast and transfer to the Park headquarters for briefing and grouping. After all the park formalities, embark on a journey to Chimpanzee tracking. The visitors get an opportunity to view chimpanzees very closely. Learn about the everyday life of the chimps which is very close to human features and making them our closest relatives. Research shows that chimps have got 99% of the DNA of human beings.

The day ends with one of the most tourism highlight amazing canopy walk 70m bridge raised above the beautiful green canopy of the ancient Nyungwe Forest, from the bridge one can identify a number of amazing birds while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the nyungwe forests. Day 5: WATERFALL HIKE IN NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK & TRANSFER TO KIBUYE – LAKE KIVU

Breakfast and transfer to the Park reception for a briefing and start the hike to the famous Waterfall and enjoy the views of the ancient forest with different flora and fauna plus very beautiful trails along the way.

Lunch and transfer to Kibuye – Lake Kivu, the Rwanda’s most attractive of lake ports, nestled in a series of interwoven and undulating hills and offering visitors spectacular views of the lake, its islands and the stunning surrounding countryside. It is considered one of Rwanda’s hidden treasures, with its lush green hills and peaceful breeze. Dinner and overnight at Cormaran Lodge

DAY 6: BOAT CRUISE TO THE NAPOLEON AND PEACE ISLANDS & TRANSFER TO KIGALI

Enjoy the breakfast at the shores of Lake Kivu followed by a boat ride to the Napoleon and Peace Islands. The islands introduce you to many wonders of Rwanda; the beautiful scenery and breathtaking landscapes; birds and fruit bats etc. An exclusive nature walk on both islands will be very rewarding for any visitor.

Lunch and transfer back to Kigali. Dinner and overnight at Kigali Marriott Hotel

DAY 7: TRANSFER TO AIRPORT

Breakfast at the Hotel and then transfer Kigali. Drop off, either at the Airport or hotel depending on your schedule.

When Packing:

Don’t forget a windbreaker or a light raincoat. When tracking gorillas you will be in a rain forest, so it will more likely than no rain. You will need good walking shoes, socks that are for hiking, Gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking. Garden gloves are also recommended to avoid stinging nettles. A light sweater for the evening is recommended and generally long sleeves and trousers are worn at this time will help keep the mosquitoes away. If you enjoy swimming, bring your swimming costume, the main hotels in Kigali all have swimming pools. If your itinerary includes Lake Kivu at either Karongi or Rubavu, you will have the opportunity to swim in the lake but kindly follow the advice of the guide. A torch should be recommended for every adventure destination and Rwanda is no exception.
