Day 1: ARRIVAL IN KIGALI & TRANSFER TO THE HOTEL

Arrival at Kigali International Airport, welcomed by tour Guide, and transfer to your hotel for Overnight –Marriott Hotel – Kigali

Day 2: TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK & CANOPY WALKWAY

Early morning breakfast and transfer to Nyungwe National Park, stop at the King’s Palace to learn more about Rwanda kingdom, history about kings and the way they lived. Have lunch in Butare later proceed to Nyungwe forest.

The day ends with one of the most tourism highlight amazing canopy walk atop a 70m bridge raised above the beautiful green canopy of the ancient Nyungwe Forest, from the bridge one can identify a number of amazing birds.

Overnight: – One and Only Nyungwe House

Day 3: CHIMPANZE TRACKING & TRANSFER TO LAKE KIVU – KIBUYE

Early breakfast at 4:30am then drive to the edge of the forest where chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe starts. Lunch at the hotel then transfer to Kibuye – Lake Kivu, the Rwanda’s most attractive of lake ports, nestled in a series of interwoven and undulating hills and offering visitors spectacular views of the lake, its islands and the stunning surrounding countryside. It is considered one of Rwanda’s hidden treasures, with its lush green hills and peaceful breeze.

Overnight: – Cormoran lodge

DAY 4: TRANSFER VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK VIA KIBUYE FOR BOAT RIDE.

In the morning after breakfast, the journey will continue to the beach and the Boat ride. In the afternoon, drive to Musanze – Volcanoes destination.

Overnight –One and Only Gorilla nest.

DAY 5: VISIT DIANA FOSSEY GRAVE AND IBYIWACU CULTURAL VILLAGE.

Morning breakfast and then drive to the park reception for briefing on the do’s and don’ts of the park, then start a nature walk to the Dian Fossey tomb. A famous American primatologist Diana Fossey started work in Volcanoes National Park in 1967 and was killed in 1985 while doing what she liked most; protecting the mountain gorillas. A visit to her tombs in the park is one of the rewarding things for her great work to save and conserve mountain gorillas.

After lunch, transfer to Ibyiwacu cultural village for community tours. Ibyiwacu cultural village gives visitors a chance to share with local people on home and heritage treasures including lifestyles, activities, artifacts and ways of living of Rwandans. Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village showcases the ways of living, traditional lifestyles and dances.

Overnight – One and Only Gorilla Nest.

DAY 6: GORILLA TREKKING

After breakfast, we transfer to the park reception. After completing our park formalities, we embark on a once in a life time experience of tracking mountain gorillas.

Once you spot them you are allowed to spend one hour watching them while playing, feeding and taking pictures with short videos. Some gorilla families are elusive and therefore trekking may take the whole day. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest is a magical experience.

Be back at the base in time for lunch! Refresh and have lunch later drive to Kigali.

DAY 7: TRANSFER TO KIGALI.

Morning breakfast, checkout formalities assisted in by our representative and settle any other requirements. Transfer to Kigali and drop off at Kigali international airport.

When Packing:

Don’t forget a windbreaker or a light raincoat. When tracking gorillas you will be in a rain forest, so it will more likely than no rain. You will need good walking shoes, socks that’s for hiking, Gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking. Garden gloves are also recommended to avoid stinging nettles. A light sweater for the evening is recommended and generally long sleaves and trousers worn at this time will help keep the mosquitoes away. If you enjoy swimming, bring your swimming costume, the main hotels in Kigali all have swimming pools. If your itinerary includes Lake Kivu at either Karongi or Rubavu, you will have the opportunity to swim in the lake but kindly follow the advice of the guide. A torch should be recommended for every adventure destination and Rwanda is no exception.
