8 DAYS OF A MEMORABLE RWANDA.

Day 1: Arrival.

Arrival at Kigali international airport. Welcomed by our guide. Transfer to hotel of your residence. Check-in formalities assisted by our representative. Briefing on how the trip will be and what you should expect.

Accommodation; KIGALI SERENA HOTEL

Day 2: Akagera National park.

Early breakfast and then transfer to Akagera national park. Check-in formalities at Ruzizi Tented Lodge assisted in by our representative. Have lunch and transfer for a sunset boat cruise at Lake Ihema which is surrounded by large seasonal and perennial papyrus swamps. You will be able to view different bird species and schools of hippos. The boat cruise on Lake Ihema takes 3- 4hours.

Day 3: Full Day Game drive.

Early morning breakfast, transfer to Akagera national park reception for a briefing about the do’s and don’ts. Later start a game drive in the park in search for the big 5 that include lions, Rhinos, Leopards, Elephants and buffaloes plus the 12 species of antelopes including the biggest antelopes such as the eland cape and roan antelopes, some of the 525-bird species including 4 rare birds of Akagera, reptiles, amphibians, plants, magnificent landscapes, a place with the highest concentration of birds per square kilometer and hundreds of hippos. The game drives will be done both in the northern and southern parts of the park.

Day 4: Imigongo tours and transfer to volcanoes national park

Early morning breakfast, transfer to kayonza for imigongo. This refers to a unique modeling and paintings called imigongo literally meaning backs. They have over ten different designs with well-documented interpretations. The colors used come from natural plants and soil for instance red color from clay soil, white from shaolin. This was developed by the Rwandese society long time ago about 1500 years by prince kakira the son of king KIMENYI of Gisaka kingdom part of the great Rwandan kingdom. The important part of this tour is that it helping in reviving and maintaining the culture from where it originated.

After lunch transfer to volcanoes national park.

Accommodation: One and Only Gorilla Lodge.

Day 5 Gorilla trekking.

Early morning breakfast. Transfer to the park reception. After completing the park formalities, embark on once a lifetime experience of tracking mountain gorillas. Once you spotted, you are allowed to spend one hour watching them. This is perhaps one of the breaths taking wildlife experience as you get close to these giant primates. It provides visitors with a chance to see the everyday life of the mountain gorillas while they are playing, feeding among others. Get back to the base for lunch. Sometimes gorilla tracking can take a full day because some gorilla families are elusive.

Day 6: Golden monkeys and ibyiwacu cultural village.

After breakfast, transfer to park reception for briefing and allocation of tour guides and then the guide will lead you to the forest where you be able spot golden monkeys on top of trees and some coming down to feed on grass. Golden monkeys are rare and endangered species. . It is now believed that they are the only feasible population of monkeys residing in the volcanoes national park.

After lunch transfer to ibyiwacu cultural village, which gives you, a rare chance to meet local people, in their environment, with a taste of our culture and traditions? Be genuinely welcomed by the community as a special visitor while they proudly present to you aspects of their traditions and beliefs. The only way to get to know people, is getting close and interacting with local people, and taking part in their daily activities and most of all with them. It’s one of the adventurous experiences as you try to adapt the Rwandese lifestyle in their local homes.

Transfer to Nyungwe national park

Accommodation: One and Only Nyungwe.

Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking and a canopy walk.

Early morning breakfast and transfer to the park reception for briefing. After all the park formalities, embark on a journey to chimpanzee tracking. Once the Chimps are spotted, you are allowed to spend one hour watching the feed and play in the wilderness.

After lunch, transfer to the most tourism highlight amazing canopy walk 70m bridge raised above the beautiful green canopy of the ancient Nyungwe Forest, from the bridge one can identify a number of amazing birds.

Accommodation: One and only Nyungwe House.

Day 8: Departure.

Transfer and drop off at Kigali international airport and wish a good bye.

When Packing: 

Don’t forget a windbreaker or a light raincoat. When tracking gorillas you will be in a rain forest, so it will more likely than no rain. You will need good walking shoes, socks that’s for hiking, Gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking. Garden gloves are also recommended to avoid stinging nettles. A light sweater for the evening is recommended and generally long sleaves and trousers worn at this time will help keep the mosquitoes away. If you enjoy swimming, bring your swimming costume, the main hotels in Kigali all have swimming pools. If your itinerary includes Lake Kivu at either Karongi or Rubavu, you will have the opportunity to swim in the lake but kindly follow the advice of the guide. A torch should be recommended for every adventure destination and Rwanda is no exception.
