DETAILED ITINERARY.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL.

Arrival at Kigali International Airport and after all the airport formalities, our representative outside the customs and Immigration hall will warmly welcome you. Transfer you to the hotel of your residence. Overnight stay at Kigali Marriott Hotel.

DAY 2: KIGALI CITY TOUR AND TRANSFER TO AKAGERA.

Early morning breakfast and start historical-minded exploration of Kigali city with visits to Kigali Genocide memorial site where genocide victims were put to rest in mass graves, Campaign against Genocide museum, Belgian camp where they killed the 10 Belgian UN soldiers who were protecting the moderate prime minister before the start of genocide.

Have lunch and transfer to Akagera National Park. Overnight stay at Akagera Game lodge.

DAY 3: AKAGERA GAME DRIVE AND IHEMA BOAT CRUISE.

Early morning breakfast and transfer to the park reception. On arrival at the park entrance, receive briefing about the do’s and don’ts of the park. After all the park formalities, start a game drive in search for the big 5 that include lions, Rhinos, Leopards, Elephants and buffaloes plus the different species of antelopes including the biggest antelopes such as the eland cape and roan antelopes, reptiles, amphibians, plants and magnificent landscapes. Akagera national Park is a place with the highest concentration of birds per square kilometer including 4 rare birds of Akagera.

Have lunch and transfer to Lake Ihema for a boat cruise.

Afternoon boat cruise at Lake Ihema which is very rewarding for seeing the large number of hippos, the huge Nile crocodiles and many birds. Lake Ihema is the most exciting part of the park especially for birders. Overnight stay at Ruzizi Tented lodge.

DAY 4: TRANSFER TO MUSANZE AND IBYIWACU CUTURAL VILLAGE.

Early morning breakfast and embark on a journey to the northern province of Rwanda in Musanze District. Have lunch in Musanze town.

En route Ibyiwacu cultural village for community tours. DAY 5: GORILLA TREKKING.

Early morning breakfast and transfer to the park reception. Arrival at the park reception for registration, briefing and grouping. After all the park formalities, transfer to the starting point and then embark on the lifetime experience of trekking the mountain gorillas. Once the gorillas are spotted, your allowed to spend one hour looking at them while playing, feeding and taking pictures with short videos. Some gorilla families are elusive and therefore trekking may take the whole day. Get back to the basement for a lunch and take a rest. Overnight stay at one&only gorilla nest.

DAY 6: GOLDEN MONKEY AND TRANSFER TO KIBUYE.

Early morning breakfast and transfer to the park reception for a briefing, registration and grouping. After all the park formalities, embark on the journey to Golden monkey trekking. It is now believed that they are the only feasible population of Golden Monkeys residing in Volcanoes National Park. They are beautiful and endangered primates which have become quite habituated to humans, making it possible to observe.

Have Lunch and transfer to Kibuye. Overnight stay at Cormaran.

DAY 7: EXPLORING KIBUYE AND TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE.

Lake Kivu is Rwanda’s most attractive of lake ports, nestled in a series of interwoven and undulating hills and offering visitors spectacular views of the lake, its islands and the stunning surrounding countryside.

It is considered one of Rwanda’s hidden treasures, with its lush green hills and peaceful breeze. A boat ride to visit the Napoleon and Peace Islands to see a number of colorful birds, learn the history of the lake and the beautiful views of the Lake surroundings.

Have lunch and transfer to Nyungwe National Park through Kivu best. While on the way, you will get a chance to view a spectacular scenery landscape of the beautiful Kivu belt. Overnight stay at One and only Nyungwe House.

DAY 8: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING AND CONOPY WALK.

Early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing. Then the amazing adventure begins. The trek will involve seeing the amazing species of chimps. Once the Chimps are spotted, you can stay in their presence for one hour as you enjoy their day to day way of life.

Return to the hotel in the afternoon and have lunch.

After enjoying lunch, transfer to the park headquarters for briefing on the canopy walk. Once the briefing is concluded, the amazing canopy walk will begin. The canopy walk is 70m above the Nyungwe forests. Gives visitors a chance to view different bird species and beautiful scenery of the Nyungwe rain forests. Overnight stay at One&Only Nyungwe House.

DAY 9: TRANSFER TO KIGALI.

Transfer back to Kigali and drop off at Kigali International Airport and wish good bye.

When Packing:

Don’t forget a windbreaker or a light raincoat. When tracking gorillas you will be in a rain forest, so it will more likely than no rain. You will need good walking shoes, socks that’s for hiking, Gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking. Garden gloves are also recommended to avoid stinging nettles. A light sweater for the evening is recommended and generally long sleeves and trousers worn at this time will help keep the mosquitoes away. If you enjoy swimming, bring your swimming costume, the main hotels in Kigali all have swimming pools. If your itinerary includes Lake Kivu at either Karongi or Rubavu, you will have the opportunity to swim in the lake but kindly follow the advice of the guide. A torch should be recommended for every adventure destination and Rwanda is no exception.
