Lake Kivu is part of Africa’s Great Rift Valley in Rwanda and is surrounded by magnificent mountains and has deep emerald green waters covering a surface area of 2,700 km2. Lake Kivu is Rwanda’s largest lake. Lake Kivu has a rough, jagged coast and contains numerous islands, the largest of which is Idjwi.
