Itinerary

DAY 1 ARRIVAL.

Arrive at Kigali International Airport. After completing airport formalities, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative outside the customs and immigration hall and transferred to your hotel.

Overnight: Kigali Marriott Hotel

DAY 2:KIGALI CITY TOUR AND TRANSFER TO AKAGERA.

After breakfast, embark on a historical exploration of Kigali, visiting:

1.Kigali Genocide Memorial, where genocide victims were laid to rest in mass graves

2.Campaign Against Genocide Museum

3.Belgian Camp, site of the killing of 10 Belgian UN soldiers

4.Additional cultural sites as time permits

After lunch, transfer to Akagera National Park.

Overnight: Akagera Game Lodge

DAY 3AKAGERA GAME DRIVE AND IHEMA BOAT CRUISE.

After breakfast, transfer to the park reception for a briefing on the do’s and don’ts. Begin a game drive in search of the Big Five — lions, rhinos, leopards, elephants, and buffaloes — as well as various antelope species, reptiles, amphibians, and the park’s diverse flora. Akagera has the highest concentration of birds per square kilometer in Africa, including four rare species.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Ihema, spotting hippos, Nile crocodiles, and numerous waterbirds. Lake Ihema is a highlight for birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Overnight: Ruzizi Tented Lodge

DAY 4TRANSFER TO MUSANZE AND IBYIWACU CUTURAL VILLAGE.

After breakfast, drive to Musanze in Rwanda’s Northern Province. Stop en route at Ibyiwacu Cultural Village for a community tour. Interact with locals and experience traditional lifestyles, activities, dances, and cultural heritage.

Overnight: One&Only Gorilla’s Nest

DAY 5:GORILLA TREKKING.

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park reception for registration, briefing, and grouping. Begin the lifetime experience of trekking endangered mountain gorillas. Spend one hour observing them in their natural habitat as they play, feed, and interact. Some gorilla families are elusive, so trekking may last the entire day. Return to the lodge for lunch and rest.

DAY 6 GOLDEN MONKEY AND TRANSFER TO KIBUYE.

After breakfast, transfer to the park reception for briefing and grouping, then trek to see the endangered golden monkeys — one of the few habituated populations in Volcanoes National Park.

After lunch, transfer to Kibuye on Lake Kivu.

Overnight: Cormoran Lodge

DAY 7EXPLORING KIBUYE AND TRANSFER TO NYUNGWE.

Enjoy breakfast and take in the views of Lake Kivu, surrounded by lush hills. Take a boat ride to Napoleon and Peace Islands, observing colorful birds and learning about the lake’s history.

After lunch, transfer to Nyungwe National Park via the scenic Kivu Belt, enjoying spectacular landscapes along the way.

DAY 8CHIMPANZEE TRACKING AND CONOPY WALK.

After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing, then embark on a chimpanzee trek. Spend one hour observing their natural behavior once they are located.

Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a canopy walk — a 70-meter-high suspension bridge above the Nyungwe rainforest, offering panoramic views of the forest and its birdlife.

DAY 9:TRANSFER TO KIGALI.

After breakfast, transfer back to Kigali and drop off at Kigali International Airport for your departure.
