Itinerary

Day 1Kigali city tour and transfer to Nyungwe NP.

The safari begins in Kigali, Rwandaโ€™s capital city and a symbol of resilience and rebirth. The first stop is the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where you are guided through Rwandaโ€™s history before, during, and after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Through exhibitions, survivor testimonies, and preserved burial grounds. Visitors gain a deeper understanding of the tragedy, the cost of division, and Rwandaโ€™s remarkable journey toward unity and reconciliation. This visit is emotional, educational, and deeply impactful.

From there, proceed to the Campaign Against Genocide Museum, which focuses on how the genocide was stopped and how the country began rebuilding. You learn about leadership, sacrifice, and national recovery, gaining context that helps them understand modern Rwanda beyond headlines.

The tour continues to Camp Kigali (Belgian Camp), a historically significant site where ten Belgian UN peacekeepers were killed during the genocide. This stop provides insight into the international dimension of the events and the challenges of peacekeeping at the time. Offering you a broader historical perspective.

After the historical visits, guests transition into present-day Kigali with a visit around BK Arena, one of the cityโ€™s most modern landmarks. This stop showcases Rwandaโ€™s development, youth culture, and growing position as a regional hub. Lunch is enjoyed at a selected restaurant, giving you time to relax and reflect.

In the afternoon, depart Kigali for a scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, passing rolling hills, rural villages, and tea plantations that define Rwandaโ€™s landscape. Upon arrival, experience a sunset canopy walk, suspended high above the forest floor. The walk offers panoramic views of the rainforest and surrounding hills, combining light adventure, photography, and a sense of wonder as the sun sets over Nyungwe.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge/hotel near Nyungwe Forest.

Day 2Canopy Walk & Chimpanzee Trek or Colobus Monkeys

After an early breakfast, guests head into Nyungwe Forest for an immersive primate experience led by professional guides and trackers. Walking through dense rainforest trails in search for chimpanzee families. And observe them in their natural habitat, watching them feed, interact, vocalize, and move through the trees. Guides share insights about chimpanzee behavior, forest ecology, and ongoing conservation efforts, making the experience both adventurous and educational.

After the forest activity, take part in a community visit around Nyungwe. This interaction allows you to meet local residents, learn about traditional lifestyles. And understand how tourism supports conservation and community development. It is a cultural exchange that adds meaning to the safari experience.

Lunch is enjoyed before beginning the return journey to Kigali, marking the end of a short but enriching safari filled with history, learning, adventure, and connection.
