7 Days Nature and Wildlife Rwanda Safari

On arrival in Kigali, you will be warmly welcomed and briefed about the journey ahead. We then set out for a guided Kigali city tour, giving you a gentle introduction to Rwanda’s history and everyday life.

The visit to the Genocide Memorial offers a reflective moment to understand the country’s past and resilience, while local markets bring you closer to the rhythm of daily Kigali life. After the tour, you will transfer to your hotel and settle in for an overnight stay in Kigali.

After breakfast, we drive eastwards towards Akagera National Park. The landscape gradually opens up as we approach Rwanda’s only savannah park. In the afternoon, we head out for a game drive where giraffes, zebras, and antelopes often roam freely across the plains.

The experience of watching wildlife against wide open skies sets the tone for the safari days ahead. Overnight will be inside Akagera National Park.

This day is dedicated to exploring Akagera in depth. An early morning game drive gives us a chance to spot animals as they begin their day. Followed by a relaxed picnic lunch set within the park’s scenic surroundings.

In the afternoon, we continue with another game drive, searching for lions, elephants, hippos, and other wildlife that thrive in this protected ecosystem.

After a full and rewarding day, we return to the lodge for overnight in Akagera.

After breakfast, we begin our scenic journey southwest towards Nyungwe Forest. The drive takes us through Rwanda’s iconic rolling hills, with cultural stops along the way that offer glimpses into local life and traditions.

As we approach Nyungwe, the landscape transforms into dense rainforest, cool air, and towering trees. We arrive near the park and check in for overnight, surrounded by forest tranquility.

Today is all about immersing yourself in Nyungwe Forest. We start with the famous canopy walk, suspended high above the forest floor, offering sweeping views of the lush rainforest below.

Later, guided nature trails allow you to explore Nyungwe at ground level, listening to forest sounds and spotting unique plant and bird species. The day ends with an overnight stay in Nyungwe, wrapped in the calm of the forest.

After breakfast, we drive towards Lake Kivu, arriving in Rubavu along the lakeshore. This is a day to slow down and unwind.

You can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, take in sunset views over the lake, or opt for a relaxed boat ride on the calm waters. The evening is yours to enjoy at leisure, with an overnight stay in Rubavu.

Following breakfast, we begin our return journey to Kigali. The drive is unhurried, with an option to stop for souvenir shopping if time allows.

On arrival in Kigali, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure, bringing the 7 Days Rwanda Safari Itinerary to a smooth and memorable close.
